Rose Bruford lighting students get help from the professionals
UK - Working closely with renowned lighting designer, Liz Berry, students from Rose Bruford College alongside Hawthorn, tested to their limits some new lighting fixtures and designs which proved to be very illuminating. Liz Berry advised and encouraged the BA Lighting Design students to create innovative lighting infrastructures using the GLP Impressions alongside Alpha Spot 300s controlled via an Avolites Pearl Tiger. The bands commented on how the lighting really supplemented their own performances and were stunned by the punchy effects, and the lighting students found the equipment to be flexible and fun to work with.

Liz Berry and the students were delighted with this new collaboration. "The students were very surprised at the brightness of both the fixtures and learned a lot from using them in their shows," says Berry. "They were especially impressed by the Impressions as they did not expect an LED fixture to be so lightweight and powerful, and they liked the option of changing the lenses to achieve different beam sizes. I was impressed at the service from Hawthorn, who were very accommodating in giving us such great equipment. They even delivered it - And I would like to personally thank Hawthorn for their support."

Hansjörg Schmidt, programme director of the Lighting Design course at Rose Bruford, added: "I am delighted with this new and groundbreaking collaboration. We always welcome an opportunity to work closely with exciting suppliers and lighting designers, to provide our students with a practical understanding of using the latest technology and it potential usage. Which in turn ensures that our graduates are in a position to push the industry forward when they start employment"
