UK - Part of the Insignis Academy Trust, Princes Risborough School in Buckinghamshire is a mixed-gender secondary school catering for children from the age of 11 to 18. The performing arts play an important role in the school’s curriculum, offering a route to qualifications, as well as the opportunity to participate in, and gain confidence from, being part of many productions run by the Performing Arts Department.
To support its dance, drama and music programmes, the school recently looked to enhance its audio provision by investing in a portable solution which could be easily operated in different areas of the school. The aim was to provide high quality background music reinforcement for dance classes, as well as a medium for small-scale spoken-word/music presentations and rehearsals. Flexibility was key, as was the need to stay within budget constraints.
Emily Colebrook, head of performing arts at Princes Risborough School comments: “We needed something to plug and play which would sound great and was easily portable. Historically, setting up PA systems could be a headache especially given that time is at a premium.
The Tensor Go is really quick to set up, the battery lasts a long time on a full charge, and adjusting it for different uses is very straightforward. Students who have no particular technical interest quickly become confident in operating the unit, and the Bluetooth connectivity is particularly useful for dance students who wish to experiment with different background music from their devices.”
As well as fulfilling the needs of Performing Arts students, the Tensor Go unit at Princes Risborough School has also found favour providing additional sound reinforcement at sports events and outdoor presentations, where its powerful battery removes the need to be close to mains electricity.
Emily Colebrook, continues: “The Tensor Go is so flexible and handy that we’ve had to be very careful to ensure it’s not monopolised by staff and students outside our department! Seriously, though, it’s been such a useful addition to our inventory that there’s every possibility we’ll invest in another unit.”
