Germany - HK Audio will be launching three brand new products at PLASA 2004 (12-15 September). An eagerly-anticipated addition to the German manufacturer's Cohedra (Coherent Dynamic Response Array) system is the CDR 210 F direct-radiating 2 x 10" flyable subwoofer. Based on the acoustic characteristics of the Cohedra CDR 210 Sub subwoofer, the CDR 210 F has the same basic shape as the CDR 208 S/T mid/high units and can be flown with the same rigging hardware. The enclosure, sloped by 2.25° on top and bottom, allows for the curving of flying bass arrays, enabling up to 20 CDR 210 F units to be mounted directly on the flying frame above the mid/high units. Alternatively they can be flown as a separate bass array or to serve as the basis for ground-stacked Cohedra mid/high units using the Cohedra stacking frame (see below). For transportation, two CDR 210 F units fit into one mid/high unit flight case.

The Cohedra Ground Stacking Frame has been developed especially for the CDR 208 S/T mid/high units and CDR 210 F Subs. In situations where it's not possible to fly the mid/high units or subs, the frame provides support for stacking a mid/high array or for mounting a full-range stack consisting of CDR 210 F subwoofers and CDR 210 S/T mid/high units. The stacking frame consists of four extensible feet which can also be adjusted to different heights, allowing the stack to be tilted towards the ground for maximum effect. Furthermore, the complete stack can be smoothly adjusted forwards or backwards, tailoring the system to the area to be covered.

Also from HK, the D.E.A.CON, receiving its UK debut. A fully digital audio system designed for use by bands, D.E.A.CON consists of two mid/high satellite units and two active and two passive subwoofers. Featuring new Digital Dynamics Optimisation (DDO) technology, which compensates for any differences in the D.E.A.CON components to create a dynamically homogeneous system. The integrated 600W RMS digital power amp, together with two mid/high cabinets featuring 12" speakers and 2" drivers, deliver assertive and powerful sound. The integrated digital controller provides central control for the complete system and allows for natural dynamics and the correct frequency reproduction at any volume level with the help of the DDO technology. Integrated protection circuitry ensures the reliable function of the complete system, even at critical volume levels.

Optimum alignment towards the audience can be achieved via HK's DuoTilt pole-mount adapter, the D.E.A.CON tilt unit or M10 flying points. The satellites can also be switched to full-range mode to be used as a stand-alone cabinet for smaller events. Four 18" subwoofers deliver a solid bass foundation. Sub A features a 1000W RMS digital power amp run by the DDO controller in the satellite, while the passive Sub B can be connected for full bass reproduction. If the total RMS power of 3200W is still not enough, two D.E.A.CON systems can easily be combined as the shape of the mid/high cabinets allow them to be aligned at the optimum angle for extra punch without cancellation or comb filter effects. This easy combination of components makes D.E.A.CON an especially flexible system for almost every event size, say the company.

HK Audio can be found on stand G 110.
