HOG Factor, an initiative from European Master Distributor AED Distribution in partnership with High End Systems, is coming back to the UK. The competition was first held at PLASA 2014, then most recently toured to Germany for ProLight+Sound Frankfurt.
The competition is open to young students currently enrolled in a full-time UK Entertainment technology related education course, or working at the starting level in a UK lighting rental production house. There will be six teams, each with two members, competing against each other. In advance they will be presented with a lighting rig comprising High End Systems Luminaires along with a set piece of music. Teams have to design a lighting show using the luminaires programmed on a HOG4 console - timecode not being allowed!
On the day of the competition, they are asked to present their piece live on the High End Systems booth at PRO and to the three Industry lighting Judges and the assembled visitors at the show. The team that presents in the Judge's opinion the best piece will be rewarded with a HedgeHog 4 console.
The winning team is then entitled to go forward to the HOG Factor European Grand Finale and join the other winning teams from across Europe during the AED Customer Nights, to be held at the AED Studios in Belgium on 9-10 December 2015.
Any young professionals that wish to participate should write to david.march@aeddistribution.co.uk with details of either the course they are studying or the company where they are presently working.
There will be a special HOG Training course run by UK HOG Specialist Colin Wood at the start of September for the participants to fully prepare them for HOG Factor.
AED Distribution will represent High End Systems during the BPM:PRO show in Birmingham from 12 to 14 September on stand F53. Onsite will be the entire HOG4 series of lighting desks and the latest LED luminaires.
