Leading design and communication company Imagination received 2 awards at the ceremony including a Special Recognition Award for the Founder and CEO of Imagination Gary Withers. Imagination was also presented with the 'Best Live Event' award for their work on 'Lifetime Lab' - a children's interactive exhibition which deals with issues of sustainable living and environmental issues built in the heart of Irish city, Cork.
Set on the banks of the River Lee, 'Lifetime Lab' was built on an old Waterworks site, which Cork City Council decided to restore and revitalise, the campus facilities include: a schools resource centre, information centre, an adventure playground, conference suites and an interactive visitor exhibition.
Since opening in October 2005, over 10,000 visitors have explored Lifetime Lab and two fulltime teachers have also been appointed to provide information to visiting students. The space has become not only an invaluable space for education but also for the local community and government.
IVCA Clarion Awards' jury said of the project: "This unique and visionary exhibition brings to life the proposition of sustainable living and lifestyles. Using water as their inspiration, Imagination created an engaging and interactive experience that was suitable for all visitors but with particular appeal to primary school children."
Ursula Morrish, account director for Imagination, who headed up the project, said of the award: "The challenge was to create a unique and visionary destination, using the heritage of Cork City waterworks to demonstrate Cork's vision of a world of sustainability and sustainable living. The Imagination project team is delighted to receive this award in recognition of the fruition of that vision."
