Special attention had to be paid to the audio design to achieve the required effect. Jason Bacon of Audio Projects, London undertook the design. Kelco was able to advise on the scheme to meet the client's exacting demands. The system needed to be zoned to feed the venue's four distinct areas, but still have the ability to offer the same music into any or all areas.
The main dance arena required a full on system so the obvious choice was Resolution 4 boxes coupled with F-218 subs. Resolution 1s were specified for the restaurant area and some seating areas, all driven by Full Fat Audio (FFA) amplifiers. This was the first major installation to use the FFA equipment and Kelco's Dave Kelland was delighted with the results.
"They are sonically very good and work well with the Funktion 1 system," he commented. This installation was an also opportunity to debut another range of loudspeakers - G9 from Global 9 Ltd. Much of the sound in the 'off dancefloor' areas was provided by their G12 boxes, also driven by FFA amps.
''The club is a regular haunt for DJs from various London venues, before or after their own sets, so the installation will be well scrutinized and had to be spot-on," said Kelland.
