Sound hire company Innovative Production Services encountered Square One at Entech 2006 on the stand of Australian KT distributor APAC Audio, and were impressed with both the performance and price. "The compression was smooth and the cue on the graphics was extremely realistic," sais Innovative's sound engineer, Nathan Tasker.
Square One graphics units were also used on Australia's largest celebration of contemporary Christian music, the Australian Gospel Music Festival, which is held in the Queensland city of Toowoomba. Klark Teknik has had a high profile over the eight years of the festival and it was raised even further this year with the introduction of Square One, which featured on monitors in the Big Top, the event's second stage. Monitor engineer Nick Morse displayed his confidence in the new range by using Square One graphics across the main vocal sends, with a lone KT DN370 graphic EQ for drum fill. A second Square One dynamics was used as an insert to keep the monitors under control with its smooth, accurate performance.
The festival's third venue, the Café, also boasted a Square One presence with another graphics unit used at front of house and a Square One dynamics providing the main inserts. "I was brought up on KT DN27s and graduated to the DN370, but now that Square One has the same characteristics at an affordable price, they are definitely on my shopping list," says systems engineer John Taylor.
As in previous years, Midas consoles were also used across the festival, with an XL200 and Heritage 3000 on the Main Stage, Legend 3000 and Siena at FOH and monitors respectively in the Big Top and Verona 400 at FOH in the Café. A plethora of KT equipment also featured strongly across the entire festival.
