The auditorium was this month equipped with a new sound system which exclusively features systems from the K.M.E.'s Prestige Series. The twin clusters and single loudspeaker positions for the stalls and the upper rank have been equipped with passive QS 1122 speaker systems. These are operated by K.M.E. amplifiers SPA 1200 MP. K.M.E. developed special installation accessories for the ceiling using a special simulation. The portal area is equipped with active QSA 500 D loudspeaker systems, as the existing NF-connections had to be used. Further QSA 500 Ds are used as mobile equipment according to specific requirements. QS 2062 were installed as support loudspeakers, using wall fixings for areas of medium acoustic perception, which are neatly integrated into the interior design layout of the hall. QS 1062s are used as front-fills and stage monitors. QS 1062 and QS 2062 are each equipped with 100V transformers and operate with existing ELA amplifiers.
Acoustic planning, computer simulation and measurement on-site have all been carried out by Akustik Bureau Dresden, Dr. Ing. Axel Roy. After the final installation, Roy remarked: "The final design of integrating the system fulfils all simulation expectations in respect of a balanced frequency response and homogenous sound distribution and above all excellent sound quality."
Hartmut Lissner, sound engineer and in charge of acoustics in the Kulturpalast Dresden explains: "A factory tour convinced us about the excellent quality of the products. Professional and constructive team work with K.M.E. allowed us to complete this project to an extremely satisfactory degree within a very short time, while detailed solutions were applied to fulfil all requirements."
