Spain - After six years away from the stage, Spanish masters of rock, ska, reggae and rap, La Raíz, made a triumphant return, exceeding all expectations with two concerts at Madrid’s Movistar Arena. More than 30,000 people on the nights of 22 November and 6 December experienced music and lighting worked in harmony.
The anticipation was sky-high, and the band did not disappoint - thousands of fans were treated to an electrifying show where music and lighting took centre stage. A stunning combination of gobos, prisms, and seamless colour transitions helped the band bring their visual narrative to life.
A key element in this long-awaited comeback was the dynamic lighting, which reached a new level thanks to 100 Ayrton Cobra moving heads. Featuring IP65-rated laser beam technology, these fixtures delivered a mix of power, precision, and versatility - ideal for creating an immersive atmosphere and high-impact visual effects.
It was Caco García, the mastermind behind the lighting and video design, who placed the Ayrton Cobra at the heart of the setup. A specialist in lighting for large-scale productions, Caco highlighted how Cobra’s colour mixing and razor-sharp beams - even over long distances - were crucial in matching the energy and dynamism of the concert.
“For La Raíz’s show at Movistar Arena, the Ayrton Cobras went above and beyond our expectations,” states Caco. “Their power and precision allowed us to create breathtaking lighting states. What impressed me the most was how they maintained an intense and well-defined beam at all times.”
To unleash the full potential of the Ayrton Cobras, the fixtures were strategically positioned all around: above the stage to cast expansive beams, on the floor to create striking upward fan effects and on the side screamers, adding depth and framing the stage design.
The lighting programming was handled by Miguel Hidalgo, who pushed the Ayrton Cobras to their full potential, bringing precision and control to every moment. With support for protocols like DMX and Art-Net, the fixtures synchronised perfectly with the music and every other aspect of the show.
The production was backed by Use Sonido, ensuring a flawless setup. The collaboration between the design, operation, and production teams was key to executing such a high-calibre show.
“La Raíz’s comeback wasn’t just about returning to the stage - it set a new standard for live concert production. A perfect example of how cutting-edge technology, design expertise, and human talent can transform an event into an unforgettable experience,” says Ayna Ibiza of Stonex, Ayrton’s exclusive distributor for Spain.
