Japan - Tokyo Bunka Kaiken, often referred to as the classical music Hall of Fame, is one of Japan's premier classical music venues, hosting everything from ballet, opera to full orchestral concerts and more. First opened in 1961, it also enjoys the reputation of being one of the oldest and most venerable concert halls in the country, and has welcomed an array of internationally renowned performers over the years. The smaller of the two halls, which is usually reserved for more intimate events such as chamber music, recitals and small ensembles, has recently undergone a sound system upgrade which included four C 16:4 dedicated installation amplifiers from Lab.gruppen installed by Yamaha Sound Technologies, Inc.

The C 16:4 is a mid-power 4-channel amplifier in the C Series family of dedicated installation amplifiers, delivering 400W per channel into 8 ohms. According to Shin Yamada from Lab.gruppen distributor, MTC Japan, it had everything the client required.

A spokesman from TBK offered the following comment: "One of the most important features for this application was that the C 16:4 is capable of handling both high and low impedance loads at the same time via just one switch per channel; by adjusting the Voltage Peak Limiter to supply the desired maximum output power or maximum constant voltage supply, you can connect any type of speaker to any output channel. After that, you're only limited by the number of channels on the amplifier, of which the C 16:4 has plenty, by the way! That in itself means you save space and money, which is another bonus. It goes without saying that the sound quality is excellent and that they are highly efficient amplifiers. In fact, the choice of Lab.gruppen amplifiers has raised the quality of the entire system including the stage, proscenium and wall speakers."

MTC's Shin Yamada agreed: "Lab.gruppen's C Series amps have been specifically engineered to meet the needs of the fixed installation market. They have proved to be an excellent choice for TBK, and the client is more than satisfied with the results."
