USA - The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival wrapped its fifteenth weekend of music and good vibes as one of the country's top musical events of the year. Taking place over 9-12 June, a 700-acre field swelled to a population of 85,000 in a feat that literally made it the state's seventh largest city for a weekend.

Bandit Lites once again worked with Lambda Productions to provide a lighting package for the weekend that featured a line-up including Pearl Jam, Dead & Company, LCD Soundsystem, J. Cole, CHVRCHES, Jason Isbell, M83, Halsey and Chris Stapleton.

Bandit's production manager Dizzy Gosnell designed the mainstage festival system to accommodate the three daily closing headliners systems, as each brought along a large portion of their own touring system which occupied a 40'w by 30'd footprint above the performing area.

Russia - Belgian engineering specialist WIcreations has designed and supplied motion control, customised staging and hardware / infrastructure for Russian singer and superstar Philipp Kirkorov's current tour which features a spectacular show design by renowned creative director, Franco Dragone.

WI has previously worked with Dragone on several projects, explains project manager Koen Peeters, and for this one the show creators turned to them to provide solutions for several staging conundrums, all of which had to be delivered in an extremely short timeframe.

The company was incorporated by Wallace Greig on 21 June 1976 as McCormick Greig Company, initially as a worldwide distributor for GE Lighting. Despite a track record that includes installations at the Venetian, Palazzo and Cosmopolitan hotels, Las Vegas CityCenter and CBN TV studios, the company is still better known for rentals and used equipment sales. "It has taken nearly 20 years for us to be an overnight sensation in the installation market," says systems and design general manager Bill Groener. Australia - As part of this year's Vivid Sydney light festival, the Australia Museum's rooftop was once again a big canvas for a lightshow. As part of the setup, . Open to artists specialising in calligraphy, poetry and music from across the Middle East, the prestigious awards are held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and organised by the UAE's Federal Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.

For the twelfth consecutive year, Terry - at the helm of his Dubai-based company Lighthouse Productions - was responsible for designing and supplying the awards' set and lighting design.

South Africa - For the third consecutive year, Blond Productions supplied the full technical for the televised competition Clash of the Choirs held at Global Access Studios in Fox Street, Johannesburg. Mauritz Neethling from Blond was responsible for the lighting design, having control on a Grand MA 2 light and an impressive Robe lighting rig at his disposal.

Filmed for Mzansi Channel on DSTV, the competition saw seven celebrity choirmasters assemble amateur singers who went head to head at the Clash of the Choirs SA.

The competition kicked off at the end of 2015, with the finales held in April 2016. This meant the entire rig - the set designed and created by Dream Sets - had to come down and be put up again. The set was larger than before and with the studio on the sixth floor, it was a relief to have a lift in the building and a team of enthusiastic crew on site.<

Hawthorn's hire service has seen a 90% increase in its supply to the theatre sector this year and the recent investments will play a key role in supporting the business's ambitious plans to build upon this success, as well as demonstrating the company's commitment to providing the very best possible service to clients.

USA - R. Kelly's Buffet Tour shows open with a haunting scene right out of a horror flick, complete with scary backlighting, eerie full moon images and a menacing bat-like drone flying overhead. When the star himself finally emerges, it's as if he's rising from the stage. Dressed in grim reaper black with large feathered wings, he is made all the more mysterious by shooting bursts of fog that appear to be triggered by his steps as he walks to the lip of the stage.

Russell Armentrout, president of Performance Lighting, came up with the fog burst concept after a design concept meeting with R. Kelly. Performance Lighting made it happen with the help of lighting director Tony Trovato by using a collection of 24 Vesuvio RGBA high-output LED foggers from Chauvet Professional.

Belgium - The fifth season of the Voice van Vlaanderan (Voice of Flanders) was staged in Hall 8 of the Ghent Expo centre, a massive complex on the outskirts of the picturesque Belgian city - with show design once again delivered by a team from design practice Arf & Yes, led by company owner and founder, Ignace D'Haese.

Arf & Yes provided the full show and venue technical design package for producers Endemol, including stage, set, lighting and video, plus the layout accommodating a large main performance stage and 3000 live audience, taking full advantage of all the available space.
