The TV lighting specialists have been providing an evolving inventory of dynamic industry standard effects since 2002 - and now the GLP impressions have joined the production.

They recently provided the main focus when Groove Armada (featuring Will Young) performed their latest hit, History.

This year, over 200,000 people were connected via the Internet to the event, which took place at the Music Hall in Rennes. To transmit the concert via the Web, broadcast staff used eight high definition cameras, as well as a package of Martin lighting and control gear provided by rental company MES of Nantes at the request of SIWA director Jose Nedelec, who handled technical direction and audio for the event.

For this year's event, The National Broadcaster of Norway, NRK utilised a maXim M supplied by Multitechnic in Oslo for Stage Motion control, drapery, silks and drop downs.

The maXim finished up controlling a Kinesys K2, Chain Master products as well as six Wahlberg DMX controlled Winches, six Wahlberg DMX controlled curtain rollups designed specifically for the ESC and three DMX Beamslides.

For one evening the various contestants were illuminated by the same lights as those used for the great world artists, a deliberate contribution to the show by the lighting designer Maksim Balashov who used various Coemar projector models in order to create different atmospheres and emotions.

HSL was brought onboard by Jerusalem and Tel Aviv based Stage Design, who supplied all the technical infrastructure for the high profile six-day event, and built most of the site. Designer Vince Foster and production manager Julian Marks called upon Bandit to Illuminate the FA Carling Cup Finals.

Designer Greg Hamm along with tour manager Bill Thompson and production manager Peter Edmonds again tapped Bandit to provide touring lighting needs for the always sold out Elvis The Concert.

Ronan Keating put on his ever typical over the top extravaganza with designer Hunter Frith. Ian Whitehead of Production North produced the entire event. The tour manager was Paul Bultitude.

Designer Pat Marks continued his long relationship with Bandit using them again on the Status Quo tour for which production manager Glen Smith was ably assisted by stage manager Lloyd Gilbert.

The three-day Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival held 16-18 April in Indio, California near Palm Springs used the W-DMX system to achieve otherwise impossible cabling for an event of this size.

The production company for the site lighting at Coachella was Visions Lighting of Placentia California run by Todd Roberts. The system consisted of a single W-DMX BlackBox S-1 transmitter and 20 receivers controlling 20 7kW Falcon moving lights from A&0. The lights were mounted on 30ft towers, surrounding the festival area. An 8dBi omni antenna was at the transmitter, and each receiver had a 24dBi grid antenna. The longest distance was 2033ft.

The event was held at the Aspire Dome, credited as the world's largest indoor multi-purpose dome, offering the highest quality facilities for multiple sports and international events.

The event was managed by Big Events Australia. At the opening and closing ceremonies, TechnoPro (Qatar) provided and installed lighting fixtures and truss structures - with the lighting dominated by automated fixtures from PR Lighting (which they distribute in the region). For the top ten placing Belgian entry by Tom Dice, Me and My Guitar, ShowLED Chameleon starcloths sparkled behind the lone troubadour in vibrant red. During the dramatic vocals of the Belarus group 3+2, the starcloths were diffused by silk drapes to create softer colour accents on the circular stage.

For Ireland's performance, the starcloths hung behind the textured backdrop fabric enabled a transformation from a rich green hue to a warm red glow without any change of scenery.
