Germany - The A.C. Entertainment Technologies stand at ProLight & Sound 2011 is showcasing a selection of leading lighting technologies.

Exclusively distributed in Europe and the Middle East by AC-ET, the show sees the official launch of the new Jands Vista v2 software.

There is also a preview of the new Chroma-Q Studio Force Daylight white and Variable white LED lighting fixtures.

Utilising the same core technologies as the Color Force range, the new Chroma-Q Studio Force LED fixtures are equally at home for broadcast, film and TV lighting applications as they are in any other application normally utilising daylight or tungsten fixtures.

The range consists of the Studio Force D (Daylight white 6,000K CCT) and Studio Force V (Variable white 2,900K - 6,000K CCT) fixtures. Both products are available in a choice of 48" and 72" battens and a 12" multi-purpose v

The Compact range includes four models - Arrow Compact 300 Beam and Arrow Compact 700 Beam, featuring a patented motorized beam focus, alongside Arrow Compact 300 Spot and Arrow Compact 700 Spot.

The low noise level of the fixtures and the high quality of their light emission combined with an electronic ballast, demonstrate Sagitter's attention to an increasingly demanding market, says the company.

Finally, ProLight + Sound marks the debut of two new products in the Sagitter LED range - two ArtLed colour changers featuring IP55 outdoor protection rating will be added to the line, alongside the Mantis moving head.

Qatar - By the end of 2010, Qatar realised the Emir's vision for a liquefied natural gas production capacity of 77m tonnes per annum. In order to celebrate this achievement, Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas and RasGas produced one of the biggest events ever seen in the country.

As part of the main show MTFX were commissioned to design and construct a series of water effects in a 4m deep pool. These effects comprised a large circular water projection screen which could rise out of the pool to 10m in height; three different size bubbling water effects to create anything from an effervescent fizz to a bubbling cauldron and finally water explosions to simulate a drill head making impact with the water. They were also required to ensure the 1.6m litres of water was kept clean and so it was circulated and filtered using a number of large sand filters.

Germany - The Coemar ParLite Led is now available with new white LEDs. The quest for a natural white LED has been the subject of extensive research by the automobile and architecture industries. This work has made it possible for Coemar to offer a world premiere for the entertainment industry: VariWhite, a product which is compact, bright, high-yield, and affords significant energy savings, says the company.

The resulting brightness is comparable to a traditional 650W Fresnel, while consuming only 5% of the energy. But the real news is it is now possible to vary colour temperatures from 2700 K to 3500 K without losing brightness.

This is a standard feature of the ParLite Led VariWhite and enables compensating for light contamination in the area in need of illumination: for example, maintaining the desired light temperature on a performer's face through the difficulties of ambi

Denmark - Martin Professional's compact MAC 101 LED moving head wash is now available in three white light versions that expand its use to applications where high quality, pure white light is needed.

The new variants incorporate cold and/or warm LEDs instead of RGB for a better white light quality and greater output. Ideal for highlighting skin tones, textiles, or set pieces, the MAC 101 white light variants are already finding use in touring applications as a front light, main light, blinder or beam effect.

The MAC 101 CT allows for easy changes in colour temperature from crisp cold looks to warm shades, and features simple intensity control. Each MAC 101 CT is colour temperature calibrated to ensure a high quality of white light and visual consistency across fixtures, a uniformity in light output that allows for seamless overlapping of beams on large stage and set areas.

UK - North London's iconic venue Alexandra Palace turned pink from the 6-8 April to mark the year countdown until the ITV London region will go digital on 4 April 2012, marking the end of analogue TV in the city where television began 75 years ago.

Belarus - FE Belimlight recently rigged the huge Minsk Arena (home rink of ice hockey stars HC Dinamo) with moving heads from PR Lighting to enable an audience of 12,000 people to experience the full dynamic of Swedish pop music duo Roxette.

The atmosphere produced by a combination of 38 powerful XL1500 Wash and 46 XL1500 Spot lights were further enhanced by audience blinders and haze machines. All lighting was under the control of a Wholehog III desk.

Responsible for the production and design were Swedish company, All Round Productions AB, with the experienced Calle Brattberg (LXworks) taking responsibility for the lighting design, and creating a huge number of different chases and colour combinations.

UK - Students from The Guildford School of Acting (GSA) recently produced and staged The Light in the Piazza - from the 1960 novella written by Elizabeth Spencer. The musical, performed at Guildford's Electric Theatre, relied upon PixelRange PixelLines as the mainstay of the lighting design.

The Guildford School of Acting and PixelRange have a long association and when arranging the lighting design for performances, PixelRange is always specified because the students understand the versatility, brightness and great effects of the lights. Freelance lighting designer, Dan Last, was brought in on this production to give the students experience of working with industry professionals.

The performance was cast from the GSA's Musical theatre course, whilst the backstage team was comprised of those on the GSA's Production skills course. The students take on a variety of roles d

USA - Barco is enhancing the magic of Roger Waters' The Wall tour as it continues around the world, providing a combination of video and lighting equipment including 15 FLM HD20 projectors, five FLM R22+ projectors, five Encore presentation systems, and from High End Systems, 32 Cyberlight 2.0 units and a Road Hog Full Boar console.

Show creative directors set out with the ambitious goal to authentically reproduce the concert venue and show created 30 years ago for Pink Floyd, including building an exact replica of the 1980 set. Fabricating the wall each night, brick-by-brick in sync with the video projection, is a laborious, yet essential task to maintain the integrity of the projections which display rotating scenery, dynamic backdrops and optical illusions. Barco's integrated lighting and video solutions enable the vivid, seamless projections to visualize the concepts

UK - LITE, UK distributor for Philips Solid State Lighting Solutions, has put a splash of color on the historical Tyne Bridge in Newcastle using Philips ColorReach PowerCore fixtures and LumenRadio's CRMX wireless lighting controls.

"A typical challenge with older structures is the lack of available wire ways for the control required to take full advantage of the features offered by color mixing LED fixtures. That problem was solved by integrating LumenRadio's CRMX wireless OEM modules into the Philips ColorReach PowerCore power supplies; eliminating the need for any control wiring", explains Andrew Milestone sales director at LITE. "Integrating the CRMX OEM modules was easy, the system worked out-of-the-box, and the reliability was rock solid. LumenRadio's CRMX wireless signal distribution is a true project enabler that we will use on a regular basis in a wide va

UK - How do you imagine colours that don't exist? Tanya Burns, lighting designer at global communications agency Imagination, knows after inventing five new colours for LEE Filters, one of the world's leading manufacturer of lighting and camera filters.

Tanya was invited to the LEE Filters factory in Andover, Hampshire to work alongside LEE's R&D team to create her own unique range of colours.

The colours have now been added to the LEE Designer Series and were launched at the the recent Prolight&Sound exhibition.

Tanya's inspiration came from her days working in theatre and opera. Over the years she has been mentally storing ideas of colours she wished existed for certain projects, without having to layer gels and lose light to create the effect, says Imagination.

"In lighting, colour is one of the most important elements. Everyone uses light fixtures, but it's how yo
