Ron Bonner says: "There will be some top quality equipment and expertise on show with Steve Williams of Nippy Industries providing the stage, Martin Hawthorn of Hawthorn Theatrical promising the vast array of Clay Paky lighting and Brian Grant agreeing to provide a top-spec PA from Britannia Row. Ric Salzedo at Avolites is again helping out with offers of a lighting desk and distro. All this in the present economic climate is an astounding effort.
"Lighting designer Mike Le Fevre with his trusty assistant Marie Sanders have given hours and hours of work already in designing the lighting rig and there have been many offers of labour from around the country. Those who have volunteered will be gainfully employed on a wide variety of tasks but it's not too late if you would like to volunteer as there is always room for more pairs of hands.
"Mojo Barriers has also offered to get involved with the day once again and a big thank you is due to them - but tinged with sadness: shortly after agreeing to help again, Mojo CEO Patrick Jordan suffered a heart attack and sadly died, which was terrible news."
The line-up will include Gary Moore, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam band, Paul Carrick (tbc) and hopefully ex-Cream member Jack Bruce. The event will also give emerging talent and local bands the chance to perform on a large stage.
Ron Bonner adds: "One area that hasn't been resolved is power: hopefully a company out in the L&SI readership will be able to assist in the supply of generators for the production. We could really do with a 250-300kVA twin set generator, so if there is anyone willing to supply our power needs in East Sussex in August, we would love to hear from you."
All those PLASA member companies who do supply generators, expect a call any day soon from Ron or James!
