Logic has come a long way since first introducing its own-brand systems at PLASA 1997. Its CS Series speakers, for example, have seen success in both live music (recently serving Deacon Blue, The Levellers, The Stranglers, Bjorn Again, Van Morrison and Jools Holland) and larger install applications (football grounds such as Chelsea, Sunderland, Southampton, Newcastle and Manchester United, as well as Cardiff's Millennium Stadium). Logic's presence at Frankfurt this year, however, represents a new phase in the company's development, as it introduces an innovative, compact line array system - the Ethos - and looks to expand its export activity.

The Ethos is aimed at the live market primarily, although its compact size and ground-stacking flexibility will also suit it to other applications including houses of worship and corporate events. The system consists of the main Ethos VA (vertically arraying) cabinet, with a dispersion of 120°H and up to 10°V (depending on splay angle) and a frequency response of 60Hz to 20kHz; the Ethos B2 - a 2 x 15" cabinet optimized for use from 40Hz to 150Hz; and the Ethos SB2 - a complementary 2 x 18" sub cabinet intended for ground-stacking only. Two SB2 cabinets are the same height when stacked as three B2s. The system is completed by a choice of four monitors (LM8, LM12, LM15 or LM20 models).

The VA, B2 and SB2 cabinets share a common width (780mm), enabling a variety of ground-stacking options, while for the VA and B2 an integrated flying system is included. A minimum array size would be three boxes, while a hang of six to 12 boxes would maximize the array's potential. For ground-stacking, the fly tracks can also be used to lock the boxes together. The decision to exhibit the Ethos as a compact, ground-stacked array also seemed to pay off, as it caught the eye of a number of visitors who could see its potential at a glance.
