Lux Helsinki is organized by City of Helsinki and LumenRadio's Finnish distributor Sun Effects are responsible for the whole technical production. The event consists of a cluster of unique lighting installations ranging from the spectacle to minimalistic realizations as well as a number of fire circus performances in the centreof the Finnish capital. Energy efficiency and sustainability is a major theme and designers are also encouraged to utilize new and innovate technologies to catch the attention of the public.
Little Spirits was designed by Twinsen Ho from Hong Kong who created a beautiful architectural lighting on an old stone villa's facade and courtyard, equipped with new LED technology. A e:cue control system and 11 pcs CRMX Nova receivers was used to control almost 1500 pixels Traxon Dot XL9 luminaires, located on 11 different trees around the area. One CRMX Nova dual universe transmitter and a several CRMX Nova single universe receivers were also used to control the facade lighting consisting of Lumenpulse Lumenfacade fixtures and Osram LINEARlight LED-strings.
Casa Magica is the artist group behind the Emergence, a large video projection installation that presents Helsinki Cathedral as a mythological object between the sea and the sky. Pink Caravan, created by lighting designer Ainu Palmu, colours buildings throughout the city centre pink. Pink characters arrive and perform their work during the sunset until the building they have chosen begins to shine in pink. The final result can be enjoyed for only one night before the caravan moves on to its next target. Both of these projects relied heavily on a wireless CRMX DMX/RDM system, containing of one CRMX Nova dual universe transmitter and multiple CRMX Nova single universe receivers.
