8,000 super-sized golden Christmas ornaments took centre stage (photo: LMP Lichttechnik Vertriebs GmbH)
Germany - LumenRadio recently helped to put some additional shimmer on the Thier-Galerie, a new upscale shopping and entertainment centre in Dortmund. Its sleek and elegant design, with a four-story glass covered house-within-a-house as an architectural centrepiece, has raised the bar for design and innovation in such public spaces.

When time came to add something special for Christmas the task to develop and implement a concept that could take the already glittering interior to the next level was given to Jens Graube from Straight Technical Solutions GmbH. No less than 8,000 super-sized golden Christmas ornaments would take centre stage and a compliment of designer Christmas trees and decorations would complete the picture. The entire installation was lit by an assortment of Litecraft AT3 LED and Robe Robin 300 LEDWash fixtures, all supplied by LMP, providing the necessary tools for saturated color washes, powerful highlights, and subtle movement.

It was important to the centre management to maintain an uncluttered look and this immediately put LumenRadio's CRMX wireless DMX/RDM system at the top the specification list for this project. Straight's Graube, together with Lighting Designer and Programmer Kai Kretzschmar, installed an extensive permanent CRMX DMX/RDM system to provide signal distribution throughout the gallery without the use of cabling. The Robin LEDWashes came from the Robe factory with the wireless CRMX OEM modules already installed.

"We were very impressed with the performance and ease of use of the LumenRadio wireless systems; it definitely exceeded our already high expectations. Our client was also extremely happy with the final result; both from a visual, esthetical, and a practical point of view; which I am sure would not be the case if we would have had to utilize cable for this project," said Jens Grube from Straight.

"The wireless CRMX DMX/RDM system allows positioning of fixtures without regard for the difficulties of getting control wiring to hard to reach locations and with a minimum of installation time and disruption; which is always a major issue in retail establishments", stated Oliver Winkler, product manager at LMP.
