In 2003, Maltbury supplied Komedia with an initial package of Metrodeck when the venue underwent a major overhaul. Because of the theatre's schedule, it truly puts Maltbury's popular staging system to the test. The system is regularly moved around to accommodate the widely differing performances taking place: bands such as Supergrass and The Tiger Lillies, theatre productions for all ages, poetry and stand-up. The Metrodeck system has made this task possible.
Komedia's technical manager Chris Williams says: "This is a very versatile and hard wearing staging system. It is easy to deal with and allows us to quickly transform our multi-purpose venue into many different layouts." Within Komedia's challenging environment, Maltbury's staging system has proved that it is indeed durable, versatile and robust, says the company.
Over the last two and a half years, Komedia has regularly added to their stock from Maltbury. In 2006, Komedia are looking to the future, planning to expand and renovate the venue. This will enable them to better cope with the amount and variety of performances and also create a single space with a greater capacity.
