UK - Midas consoles were out in force at this year's Glastonbury festival, triumphing over flood and storm to ensure the thousands of waterlogged music fans were guaranteed the best in sound quality and technical reliability. Once again the abundance of Midas consoles across the festival site confirmed them as the board of choice for large outdoor events.

The Pyramid Stage boasted a veritable moving feast of Midas consoles at FOH including two Heritage 3000s and two XL4s, courtesy of SSE. On stage, two XL3s handled monitor duties for a range of acts across the weekend including The Killers, Brian Wilson, the White Stripes and Coldplay as well as Basement Jaxx, whose show-stopping headline performance was not only a fantastic finale to the strong weekend lineup but also a fitting tribute to Kylie.

Sound for the Other Stage was as usual in the capable hands of Skan PA Hire, which supplied two Heritage 2000s for FOH with a further two Heritage 3000s on monitoring duties for bands including Bloc Party, Fatboy Slim, Kasabian, Razorlight and Ian Brown.

Midas' most recent addition, Siena, made its Glastonbury debut at various locations across the festival site. BCS Audio was using its newly-purchased 56-channel Siena - the largest sold in the UK to date - at the Avalon field, while in the newly-expanded Dance Area, BCS used a second Siena at FOH for Dance West, on dry hire from IPB Audio, with a Verona on monitors. A Midas Venice was also in residence across the way in Dance East, where it was being used by Audile.

"Our new Midas Siena console really rose to the occasion as Glastonbury, providing plenty of headroom and versatility, while the 56 channels meant that we could cope with anything that was thrown at us," says David Shepherd from BCS Audio.

Elsewhere across the site, APR was using a Heritage 3000 for Jazz World, with SWA providing a Heritage 3000 FOH at the John Peel tent, Glastonbury¹s new bands showcase, while both the Acoustic and Leftfield stages were using Legend 3000s at FOH, supplied by RMPA and Willpower respectively.

"The widespread and continued use of Midas consoles for an event of this scale is proof that engineers from a wide variety of backgrounds are immediately at home behind our boards, while PA companies can rely on the flexibility, reliability and sound quality that they guarantee," says David Cooper, sales and marketing director at Midas.
