Spanish installation company Twin Cam were responsible for commissioning the new desks into the halls, together with a package of Klark Teknik equipment including 24 channels of Helix DN9340 dual digital EQ and Helix DN9331 Rapide graphic controller. Five DN360 graphic eqs and four DN1248 Plus mic splitters join the second H3000 in the Chamber Music Hall. The Helix EQs were configured as part of a Show Command system, with the H3000's Solo Tracking System (STS), Rapide and a tablet PC running Elgar software, working together for fast monitor EQ access. Klark Teknik and Midas' STS function allows engineers to gain access to the EQ curves displayed on the Rapide, or as an option on a wireless tablet PC, by hitting the solo buttons on the console, giving them complete control of all the EQ functions for that output.
"Despite the fact we're now in the digital era, there are still many companies and technicians in Spain who prefer to use traditional technology, and not just any analogue console but a Midas," says Auprosa's touring product manager Jordi Raluy, who also helped them with the programming. "The Auditori seriously considered purchasing a digital mixer but finally decided against that option having considered the Heritage's advantages such as its great preamp and EQ, and this integrated system fits perfectly with their needs."
According to Auditori sound engineer Toni Vila, another main criteria of the Auditori's decision was that the venue's technical staff are extremely familiar with the way the Heritage works and responds. This, combined with the fact that most visiting engineers to the venue feel comfortable with Heritage due to its logical, intuitive ease of use, meant that Midas was the only option, he says.
Since installation, the Heritage 3000s have been used for concerts by Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé, the Barcelona Jazz Festival featuring Jamie Cullum, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau and the Russian State Symphony Orchestra.
