Czech Republic - Trussing manufacturer Milos staged a successful two-day international technical workshop to highlight its key products and services, and its facility near Prague.

It was attended by 50 people who travelled from across Europe, including Italy, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and Belarus among others.

The event included a demonstration of building the new Milos MR5 Roof system - its largest roof product to date - which has been specially designed to cater for indoor and outdoor events needing substantial stages with plenty of space and weight-loading.

A team from hoist manufacturers Columbus McKinnon in the US presented a seminar on CM Lodestar Motors. This featured a selection of standard Lodestar hoists and a hands-on demonstration of how they work with the MR5 system, illustrating the safe use of hoists in this and other situations. They also stripped a Lodestar down to its bare component parts revealing all the vital elements inside and how they work.

From Germany, Reputable Static Engineer's office led a session discussing safe rigging practices, trussing and statistics. This included discussions on the different types of trussing and connectors and how to rig them correctly, operational statistics relating to wear and tear of the equipment, weight loadings, wind tolerances, working indoors and outdoors plus chain hoists, including German BGV C1 regulations.

The workshop was planned and organised by Milos' Vladimir Hasman, sales manager and Glen Brown, Milos UK's sales & marketing director.

"The target for every successful Workshop should be to ensure that visitors come away with a greater knowledge of our company, products, services and people, and the information delivered during the workshop was designed to do exactly this," says Hasman. "We think the 2008 Milos Workshop surpassed previous events in achieving these objectives, and want to thank all those who attended and wish them the best for their future business."
