Recently, Live Nation (Music) UK Limited decided that the foyer lighting needed updating as part of the venues O2 rebranding. Whilst researching potentially suitable fixtures, Simon Williams, the venue's head technician, approached local lighting experts GLS Lighting Ltd for advice. Ian Turner from GLS suggested the MilTec Batten2 as a suitable fixture, and so a demo was arranged. The result was that eight of the Batten2s have been installed along with two Par144Q led pars by the in house technical crew, along with new DMX distribution and associated cabling.
Williams commented, "The new MilTec fixtures have replaced some old 'orange' sodium fittings, and have straight away changed the look and feel of the foyer - as well as hopefully reducing energy consumption in the area. They have primarily been installed to give us a blue lighting state to reflect our new O2 branding, but have the added benefit of easily being able to offer specific colour choices or sequences from the 18x 12w RGBW chips, enhancing the look of the foyer for private clients events too.
" I'm really pleased with the new fixtures, as this kind of lighting solution and technology is something I've been keen to install for some time. Of course I would now like to add more fixtures to further show off the architecture! Our friendly local hire company GLS Lighting - who we work with regularly, kindly arranged a demonstration of the units as they had been in discussion with MilTec regarding some other projects they were working on."
