"Locomotiv Stadium combines distinct and unusual architectural ideas with high-tech safety, communication, and other systems - including the finest sound in Russia," said Andrei Kremenchugsky of MediaMatrix Center, the installation department of Dom Zvuka Ltd of Moscow. "It will be Moscow's leading venue for large live concerts in the future."
MediaMatrix Center, one of the few Russian corporate members of NSCA, is one of the most prominent design and installation contractors in Russia. The company's installations have included conference halls, musical theatres and sport venues, as well as seminars for sound designers and theatrical engineers, and collaboration with the Russian federal government in developing new standards for sound and paging systems.
Since its inception five years ago, the company has used Apogee loudspeakers extensively. "I have heard every Apogee loudspeaker in every environment," Kremenchugsky said, "and I was so impressed that I decided to use Apogee any time I could." Kremenchugsky decided that a line array system could work well for the new Locomotiv Stadium and he specified 16 of Apogee's ALA-9 tri-amped three-way loudspeakers for this install. MediaMatrix Center chief engineer Dmitry Karikh performed all AMX programming and design of the CobraNet network. Kremenchugsky also credits MediaMatrix Center engineer Ilya Plotnikov and acoustical consultant Michael Lannie, a member of AES.
