In an effort to increase his students exposure to moving light technology - the future of lighting - Steve Huttley, the chief electrician at the Guildhall School of Music in London, has decided to expand the range of automated lighting equipment included in School’s stock. This already includes Strand Pirouettes, and Steve turned to White Light and The Moving Light Company to look at other products in the market to see what would both broaden the range of equipment experienced by his students and be of value to lighting designers working on productions in the theatre. The Moving Light Company’s extensive experience with automated lighting covers a huge range of products from a variety of manufacturers used on a diverse selection of shows - and their advice therefore tends to be impartial and based on ‘real world’ experience. After many discussions, Steve opted to purchase four High End Systems Studio Colors and two CMY colour-mixing High End Studio Spots, giving him colour-mixing washlights to complement his Pirouettes, and moving spotlights to provide a different style of lighting. A carefully worked-out deal for the equipment was finalised by White Light’s Bryan Raven and David Catterall of High End Systems. "We are delighted to have been of help to Steve as he worked to chose the best equipment for his students and the productions they work on," said Bryan. "We have long recognised that as the level of technology involved with lighting increases, so the need for those who will use that equipment to learn how to make best use of it also increases. This is the driving force behind our Training Initiative scheme, and we were glad Guildhall students will now be able to work directly with these exciting products."
