The company has a long history with L-Acoustics, becoming the first V-Dosc partner in Asia in 1998. For more than a decade the relationship between the companies has flourished, and MSI has become one of Japan and Asia's leading sound companies. 11 years after their initial contact, MSI was contacted by L-Acoustics founder Dr Christian Heil and invited to France for a meeting about K1.
"I flew over to France with MSI vice president, Nishio Motoshige and listened to the K1 system at L-Acoustics," says MSI director Fujii Shuzo. "The moment I heard the system, I immediately knew I would be buying it, and we were given the opportunity to become part of the pilot programme."
The K1 system made its Japanese debut with Fukuyama Masaharu, who has embarked on a three-month arena tour of the country. Official L-Acoustics trainer and consultant Sherif El Barbari travelled to Japan to carry out some training with the new K1/KUDO system prior to the tour.
"Having just used the K1 system for the first time, I think it's great," said Shuzo after the first concert. "It has the most advanced rigging system which shortens the set up time for us, and means we can do our job not only quickly but safely. As for sound quality, the mid-high for vocals is extremely smooth, and the sound was clear and full-bodied, even right at the back of the venue.
"K1 is definitely an upgraded version of V-Dosc - this system is able to bring out the small nuances of the sound while also being very powerful."
