DJ in action with Denon at The Works, Birmingham.
The Music Company has technical installation landmark at The Works on Birmingham’s Broad Street - a new flagship venue for the First Leisure Corporation, which incorporated the 500th Denon DJ unit the Music Company has installed. The audio brief was to provide a higher impact audio system than those found at other recent First Leisure sites. The 2,300 capacity venue contains three rooms, each with its own DJ booth, and each embracing a different music policy.

Music Co specified two Denon DN-2100F twin-CD players for The Works’ main room and the mezzanine level second room, plus a DN-1800F twin-CD deck for the third and VIP room, Top View, which is high in the rafters of the building, overlooking the main room. The main room also features a DN-M2300R twin mini-disc player, and all the Denon devices were supplied to Music Co by Hayden Laboratories. The Works’ Saturday and Sunday main room resident DJ is Mike James who says: "Denon is an excellent, reliable and versatile brand." He has been an avid Denon fan since the advent of the DN-2000 Mk 3 which become an industry standard in the late nineties. On the 2100, he specifically likes the Hot Start and Brake facilities, and is also finding the Hot Start on the mini disc invaluable: "It’s a great facility to have in an DJ booth," he states. For their New Year’s Eve show, he recorded a special 45-minute music and sound effects mix on his PC for the countdown to midnight and the roll-over into 2002. At 17 minutes to midnight, hit the ‘Go’ button on the M2300R - and was also able to relax and enjoy the midnight moment.

The Music Co and Hayden Laboratories enjoy a healthy and active on-going relationship. Music Co’s Miles Marsden has been specifying Denon equipment for many years, and now virtually all the company’s larger venue projects - those over 1000 capacity - will feature Denon tools. The brand is chosen for it’s robustness, reliability and quality engineering and it’s outstanding performance in the most exacting environments. "Denon CD machines produce the best sound quality, are consistently good with all types of music, have the best build and DJs love them," stresses Marsden. He adds: "The ergonomics are also great - an aspect that Denon is constantly evolving. They are in tune with a fast-moving market, and keep the upgrades and developments on the move from one model to the next."

Music Co also continues to specify various Denon products to all types of health, fitness and sports venues.
