Germany - Neumann & Müller (N&M) is establishing a new logistics site at a freight transport centre in Augsburg. The company intends to use the location as a base for moving equipment to and from trade fair locations in the south and southwest of Germany as well as for serving recurring event productions in the region. The company is aiming to ‘boost its performance capability in its enterprise-wide logistics operations so that it can better meet the constantly growing demands placed on the various N&M business units’.
Setting up the new site in Augsburg will increase the number of logistics sites to three: up to now, Bochum and Leipzig have served as the main handling locations for a large part of the equipment. Measuring around 10,000 m², this new site can handle a similar capacity to the other two locations and will have two positive effects: on the one hand it will reduce transport distances and, on the other, will increase equipment availability. As Nils Stüvecke, the man in charge of N&M's logistics unit, reports: “This move will help us to boost efficiency and move equipment more quickly.”
He went on to explain that a high-performance logistics site in Augsburg would be the perfect way of strengthening the company's logistics network. Departing from the new facility, the company's forwarding agents will benefit from excellent access and short distances to the surrounding metropolitan regions; transports to Austria, Switzerland, France and Spain will also start from Bavaria's third largest city.
Nils Stüvecke adds: “The building we have rented in Prologis Park in Augsburg is as good as new and provides us with the best possible starting point for developing N&M Logistics in the years to come. We are really looking forward to Augsburg.”
Besides realising a large number of corporate events in its role of full service provider in the attractive event regions in the south and southwest of Germany, N&M is also a service partner to a total of eight trade fair locations and two congress centres – Augsburg will be the departure point for transports to Stuttgart, Munich and Nuremberg; the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre itself is also one the company's clients and, like the other sites, will benefit from the very close proximity.
