UK / USA - The new management team at Cerwin-Vega used the PLASA Show to unveil the results of the company's new development philosophy, in conjunction with UK distributor Lamba plc. President, David Rice, and marketing manager, Jesse Walsh, presented three new product ranges making their world debuts.

The Vision Series, flagship of the company's Professional Audio division, features five new designs specifically aimed at live sound reinforcement and non-engineered sound applications. The Vision line includes two, three-way, full-range (bi-ampable) trapezoidal enclosures with ATM-equipped fly points, along with two subwoofer units and a single 12" coaxial enclosure that doubles as a floor monitor and flyable install speaker. The series includes the VIS-153 (a single 15" three-way system); the VIS-253 (a dual 15" three-way system), the VIS-122 (a single 12" coaxial enclosure), the VIS-218 subwoofer (dual 18" direct radiator) and VIS-36 (a trapezoidal folded bass horn with a single 18"woofer).

"Vision represents the pinnacle of Cerwin-Vega's engineering and manufacturing capabilities," said David Rice. "More importantly, it also represents a real breakthrough for our customers, offering them a range of powerful and elegant performers along with outstanding value - a combination not available from any other competitive product line. It's a win-win that will make Vision one of the most important loudspeaker introductions in recent years."

Jesse Walsh also introduced the ProStax Series, featuring five new systems with increased levels of value and performance, targeted at the mid-priced sound reinforcement marketplace. Designed for live sound, DJ and music playback professionals, the ProStax Series consists of three, three-way, full-range trapezoidal enclosures as well as a floor monitor and bandpass subwoofer. Members of the line include the PSX-123, a single 12" three-way system, the PSX-153, a single 15" three-way system and the PSX-253, a dual 15" three-way system. The line is rounded out by the PSX-122, a single 12" coaxial which doubles as a floor monitor/ two-way stage system with pole mount and the PSX-115 15" bandpass subwoofer, featuring an unmistakable resemblance to the Cerwin-Vega! trademark folded horn design.

"ProStax Series represents a singular level of performance in this price segment", remarked David Rice. "What makes the line so special is its premium combination of three-way performance, 2" titanium compression driver and 15mm plywood construction at a price that our customers will find hard to believe."

Finally, the company showed the SDS-525 loudspeaker system. This is the first product in the new Structural Design Series, which is specifically designed for professional applications, including foreground and background music. The two-way, full-range 150W system features a high-impact polyresin, weather-resistant enclosure with a durable metal grille.

"The SDS-525 is an exciting entry into the permanent installation market," Rice summarized. "The interest from sound contractors has been phenomenal. We are able to provide a product that delivers performance equal to or better than the world's largest selling speaker in this class, for considerably less money, without scarifying quality or durability. We are committed to further developing the Structural Design Series to provide contractors with products they need to address market demands."

All these products will enter the marketplace sequentially through the Autumn. In the meantime Lamba have now vigorously begun marketing the MkII version of Cerwin-Vega's popular V-Series full range enclosures, offering greatly enhanced performance, improved ergonomics and the most aggressive pricing in the company's recent history.
