Opened in 1995, the Forum Meyrin is a multipurpose arts and exhibition centre, incorporating exhibition halls, banqueting rooms, restaurants and the city library. Beneath the facility, in the basement, is the Undertown club, a live music venue which hosts dance nights and live gigs. Since the end of last year, the Forum has been expanding its technical capacity, installing new lighting, staging and audio equipment. The next stage will see the installation of new seats and other improvements in comfort and security.
Known as Forum-Meyrin, the 800-seater auditorium has been upgraded to an impressive technical standard, including the installation of the first (and only) Yamaha PM1D digital mixing console in Switzerland. The front-of-house system features eight Nexo PS15s, wall-mounted, four either side of the proscenium arch, along with four LS1200 sub-bass units. Above the stage, there is a PS10 pair in a centre cluster. A further four PS15 full-range cabinets are used for the balcony system, supported by two LS1000 subs. The whole FOH system is amplified by Camco Vortex 4 and six digital amplifiers. 10 PS15s, eight PS10s, and two LS1000s constitute a stage monitoring system and/or supplementary delay system if required.
Downstairs at the Forum Meyrin is the Undertown club, a 400-capacity venue which showcases many new and unsigned artists as well as hosting dance nights for the younger crowd. Undertown has been equipped with a new PS15 house system; four of the full-range cabinets, supplemented by four LS1200 sub-bass, again amplified by Camco Vortex. The monitoring system is four PS15, soon to be upgraded to six cabinets. The installation has been undertaken by Nexo's Swiss distributor, Zap Audio.
