Busy times for Scotland’s NL productions

UK - Event production company NL Productions has been awarded the contract opportunity to deliver Dundee’s Christmas Village for the next three years. This development promises to bring festive magic to the heart of the city, “offering a vibrant celebration that will engage the local community and attract visitors from far and wide”.

The contract will run for further years until Christmas 2026. Earlier this year Dundee City Council announced they were looking to partner with a professional event management company to run the festive attraction in December.

The Christmas Village will be designed to appeal to all ages, offering something for everyone. The centrepiece is a 10m x 20m real ice rink where visitors can glide into the festive season. The Christmas Market will showcase local traders and caterers, offering unique gifts and seasonal treats. Families can enjoy a funfair with a variety of thrilling rides, while children will be enchanted by the immersive and magical Santa Experience. The village will be illuminated with stunning lighting and effects, creating a festive atmosphere, and a series of events throughout the season will ensure there’s something special for everyone to enjoy.

Jonathan Brown from NL Productions said: “NL Productions are delighted to have been awarded the contract to operate the Dundee Christmas Village. We have a lot of exciting ideas and cannot wait to share them with everyone. We are dedicated to delivering an event that the city can be proud of, and which focuses on both quality and value for money.

“Our aim is to create an event that not only captivates and delights visitors but also brings significant benefits to the city of Dundee. We believe in the power of community-focused events to strengthen local ties and boost the local economy, and we are committed to ensuring that this year's Christmas Village does exactly that.”

Cllr Steven Rome, Dundee City Council convener of fair work, economic growth and infrastructure, said: “The council is working hard to transform Dundee city centre, and we are well aware that Christmas is an extremely important time for our retail and hospitality sectors.

“While the Dundee Hooley has become established as a highlight of the city’s successful kickstart to the festive season, the Christmas Village will add to the experience and attract families, visitors and shoppers into the centre for a sustained period. We look forward to working with NL Productions on this venture."

For NL Productions, Dundee’s Christmas Village will top off an incredibly busy conclusion to 2024, which includes the delivery of Castle of Light at Edinburgh Castle.

The festive period will also see NL Productions return to Jedburgh to produce year two of Monteviot Lights, the Scottish Borders’ Winter Light Trail.

"We are incredibly honoured and excited to be delivering a fantastic range of events," said event producer Jonathan Brown of NL Productions. "Each presents a different opportunity for us to showcase our creativity, expertise, and passion for delivering unforgettable experiences.”
