Nick Read, head of hire and events for Northern Light, says, "We're delighted and proud to be supporting this world renowned event in our home city of Edinburgh. We've been working with the Festival Fringe organisers to ensure that they benefit from our extensive experience in theatre, events, live music, opera and comedy and receive all the technical support they require. Northern Light is supplying lighting, sound and AV equipment and staging plus technical labour and advice for both festival organised events and visiting theatre companies and performers."
Kath M Mainland, chief executive officer for the Festival Fringe Society says, "Northern Light has been extremely supportive of the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society. Their practical advice and technical expertise has helped us to deliver a number of key Festival events and the advice service that they offered to performers has proved to be extremely beneficial. It has been a pleasure working with Northern Light."
Northern Light has already been busy servicing a number of events on the run up to the Festival including, on 4 June, the Fringe Festival School Poster Competition and award ceremony at the Museum of Childhood. The company provided lighting, stage design, PA and crew.
Northern Light has also designed and installed decorative lighting, staging and PA for Fringe Central - the Fringe participants' centre.
"Fringe Central is the destination hub for festival participants and press alike," says Reed. "It's run by the Fringe Society and will play host to a series of exciting events, including a number of events curated by the Royal National Theatre. Throughout the Festival, Fringe Central will host special educational sessions aimed at those requiring more information about staging their shows. Northern Light has been tasked with ensuring that the building is easily recognisable and visible from the outside, yet provides an oasis of calm and a well equipped performance and creative space inside."
