Northern Stage invests in Spotlight FresneLEDs
- Details
Northern Stage is the one of the largest producing theatre companies in the North of England, presenting new and dynamic original work as well as up-and-coming, innovative theatre makers.
With a recent tour taking in some smaller community venues, Northern Stage production manager, Chris Durant and lighting designer, Richard Flood needed a low-power LED lighting rig featuring a multi-purpose Fresnel solution, to keep the overall power needs down. At the same time, it needed to match the quality and output of conventional Fresnels and have the option to create coloured lighting effects.
Chris comments: "The Spotlight FresneLED 150 is exactly what we needed. It ticks all the boxes as a compact, low power LED light which can be easily rigged on touring shows, covers multiple lighting bases and delivers a very high quality of light. We're really happy with it."
Since the tour ended, the Spotlight fixtures have been installed in Northern Stage's Stage 3, a multi-purpose space which is equipped with full technical facilities to meet the varying production needs of events including performances, conferences, film screenings and private functions.
The high-efficiency 150W, FresneLED 150RGBW fixture provides the output of a 650W incandescent tungsten lamp, with an extra-long life of more than 30,000 hours. The unit also has an adjustable fan speed, for ultra-quiet operation during noise-sensitive productions. Other features include DMX control and a zoom range from a 16° spot to a 45° wash.
The fixtures were supplied by A.C. Entertainment Technologies, the exclusive UK distributor for the Spotlight lighting range.
