"Born and brought up in Blackpool, Harry spent most of his working life in the sound industry, majoring as managing director for the Japanese-owned company TOA. It was Harry who introduced the "Golden Ears" awards for his best distributor - a most difficult decision as all his best distributors were his best friends! He took his top companies away on "conferences" to boring places like Majorca, Japan and other such locations. (I knew they were conferences because I saw pictures of them all at the bars!)
Harry was also Past President of The Blackpool Magic Circle. I think we all knew he was a "magician" with the tricks he played on us all! Harry's last few months were devoted to the opening of their new club house. Harry was also a Freeman of the City of London and a livery man of The Worshipful Company of Firefighters. That's where he became so involved with the charity R.A.F.T for which he raised so much money.
After he retired from TOA he joined RWS Manchester, witnessing the passing of his close friend Bob Salt (with whom he would have a drink most Thursdays), and then moved to H.B Litherland, a wholesale electronic distributor of aerial and satellite equipment based in Blackpool itself.
Harry Greenaway was a real family man, businessman and magician, but above all a friend - our friend."
Harry leaves his wife Kathy, daughter Paula, son Stephen and a total of six grandchildren who Harry doted on.
