London-based Orbital Sound, specialist in the design and supply of audio systems for theatre and musical productions, has underlined its commitment to advanced digital solutions with the acquisition of two new Digico D5 Live mixing consoles.

Orbital’s MD Chris Headlam commented: "We’ve pushed the envelope of large format digital mixing technology for over two years now and the positive reaction we’ve received from designers, producers and production companies goes to prove that digital mixing solutions represent the future of contemporary sound designs. Despite some arguments from industry sceptics, we’re confident that digital is the way forward - it is not only a powerful creative option, but as it offers positive economic implications to producers with seat and logistics savings - the digital revolution is moving fast. The addition of Digico’s D5 to our extensive inventory unquestionably expands our potential to meet current demands. It is a fantastic console solution."

The desks will make their Theatre debut at the first International Festival of Musical Theatre later this month in Cardiff where they will be deployed for a multitude of ambitious events including the European premiere of four-time Tony award winning Broadway Musical Hit - Ragtime, and the deciding finals of the Sony ‘Global Search For New Musicals.’

Digico’s Bob Doyle expanded: "We’re delighted at Orbital’s commitment to embrace our digital platform. As leaders in the design and operation of sound systems in London’s West End and, as the first company to deploy the D5 in a theatre application, we’ve specifically tailored certain features to meet their needs and look forward to working with their team in the future."
