The Tascam HDR1 solidstate recorder is designed to exploit the advantages of latest generation file based digital media in professional audio and AV integration applications, previously fulfilled by CD/CDR, MiniDisk, cassette tape and commodity PCs. The HD-R1 provides recording and storage of MP3 and uncompressed .WAV file formats to both Compact Flash memory cards and USB removable storage devices, in conjunction with advanced IP network capabilities.
Orbital Sound hire manager, Phil Dormer, explains why the company committed to the Tascam solid state player to service its heavy seasonal rental commitments: "It's a vitally important time of year for us and we needed something extremely reliable, easy to use out of the box, and fast to configure with .WAV sound files - the HD-R1 does the job exceptionally well. We have now consolidated everything onto one neat format and the operators love it.
"The HD-R1s are now deployed on all our Christmas shows, replacing our previous generation CD and MiniDisc recorders. We typically use two units per installation, and have more than 20 Christmas shows out at any one time at most of the UK's leading venues around the country."
