A perfect example of its technical 'superiority' can be seen in the Sequoia Adventure attraction: a roller coaster set in a late 19th century American sawmill, which has client's adrenalin pumping, thanks to the feeling of being suspended in mid-air as they turn upside-down repeatedly, almost as if in slow motion, during the ride. Designed by an American firm that is one of the world's major high-impact attraction builders, Sequoia Adventure is the first installation in the world of this type.
Another important example is Escape from Atlantis, the largest (15,000sq.m) water attraction in Europe, which was also used as the set for an eye-catching publicity spot aired by major Italian and foreign television broadcasters. Its sound reinforcement system consists in 40 Outline Micra loudspeaker enclosures.
Just a few months ago, the Gardaland Theatre was inaugurated, an impressive spectacular building in Decò style, able to seat up to 1,300 spectators. As well as hosting the visitors to the Park for its innovative shows (such as the Broadway Celebration Musical, an exclusively produced top-grade spectacle), the theatre was also designed as a venue for meetings, plays, concerts and television shows.
As well as supplying the audio system for the theatre, on Gardaland management's specific request, Outline handled the acoustic design, a decisive factor for achieving good results.
In fact, on the subject of specific instruments for architectural acoustics, it should be remembered that Outline manufactures the Globe Source Radiator, an item that was put to profitable use for measuring reverberation time in the Gardaland Theatre. This is an omni-directional sound source with variable directivity.
Francesco Ferretti, Outline sales manager (Italy), who has a 16-year business relationship with the Park's management, explains: "We habitually compel clients to consider the acoustics before installing any loudspeaker system, but for this we usually entrust the work to external consultants. In this case, the Park's management insisted that they wanted an all-round service from Outline and, considering the important role played by Gardaland at international level, be decided it was necessary to distract Guido Noselli from his busy work schedule and involve him on the project. In fact, after some simulations with the treated room, it was easy to establish the type and quantity of enclosures to be used to ensure that the results we wanted were achieved."
Outline equipment installed at the Gardaland Theatre includes four Bomber enclosures, full-range, 3-way systems (1x18", 1x15", 1x10", 1x3") with a horn-loaded mid-high unit, and a pair of Topsub Plus 2x18" subwoofers were installed on the floor to give even more punch to the bottom end. Six H.A.R.D. 115 (self-powered) monitors are used for the stage and in the backstage area, whereas eight Micra II enclosures are used for front-fill chores on the front rows of the stalls. The rig is completed by sixteen Outline Movie FX 81 enclosures (1x8", 1x1") for surround effects. The control electronics and powerhouse (also Outline) consist respectively in a Genius 24 and two Genius 26 DSP, four D4-2K and three T44 amplifiers, plus a T6.5.
Outline sound can also be heard at Gardaland outside the Valley of the Kings, the attraction that is a faithful 1:2 scale reproduction of the fascinating temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt. In this case, two Doppia enclosures, two Victor Live subwoofers controlled and powered by Genius 6 DSP and T power amps and two (delayed) Digita Plus N ensure a high SPL reproduction of the soundtrack of the exciting Laser Show, which is accompanied by dancing fountains and walls of water up to 45 feet high.
There are also other very recent Outline installations on floats for
