The Mini COM.P.A.S.S. from Outline.
Italy / Germany - At Rimini's SIB (11-14 March) and Frankfurt's ProLight & Sound (29 March - 1 April), Italian manufacturer Outline will be presenting three new products which it says are "sure to attract considerable interest".

The first is the Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. - an ultra-compact relative of the COM.P.A.S.S. - the first-ever robotic loudspeaker enclosure and winner of the prestigious Award for Product Innovation at London's PLASA Show last autumn. Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. is a self-powered loudspeaker system for stand-alone use or, to combine with other elements to form a Vertical Line Array. Fitted with four 5" mid-woofers and two compression drivers with a 1.75" diaphragm coupled with two D.P.R.W.G. wave-guides, the Mini COM.P.A.S.S. enables users to adjust its directivity on the horizontal plane from 60° to 150° (even asymmetrically) with mechanical steps of 15° per side in relation to the axis, say Outline. Four presets can be recalled by users for each single step set, in order to have 16 different combinations of horizontal dispersion, thus ensuring users a wide range of choices of coverage. Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. can be remote controlled by means of an (optional) 'wireless' kit, as can all Outline products with on-board DSP. The mechanics of the flying system offer the necessary precision for the possible adjustments with a resolution of 0.5° per step between elements in the Line Array on the vertical plane, in spite of the capacity being over-sized compared to the load.

The system is not motorized and is mounted like a traditional Line Array, but users can adjust dispersion manually in a precise, easy manner even after it has been mounted, in order to obtain the required angle for acoustic coverage of audiences, even after flying, say Outline.

The second new product is the SubTech 218 SP. Based on the TopSub, which Outline calls "the most compact, light self-powered '2x18' at present on the market". Despite weighing just 80 kilos and having a volume of less than 0.45 cubic metres, SubTech 218 SP reaches down to 26Hz with remarkable control, precision and articulation, and wit extremely low distortion say Outline.

Finally, the third introduction will be the Genius M 412 - an integrated loudspeaker management solution, capable of simultaneously processing four inputs and 12 outputs, all from one standard rack unit. The unit's dynamic converters (120dB) and very low distortion (-100dB), as well as a very high performance computation unit based on a SHARC processor, Genius M412 "guarantees great functionality and exceptional quality" say Outline.

Each output is fitted with crossover, parametric and High/Low Shelving filters, plus polarity, phase and 'time-align' control, plus a comp/limiter.

Outline will be exhibiting on stand 164, hall C at SIB, and on stand D45, hall 4.1 at Pro Light & Sound.
