Segeren, who played a key role previously, when Le Maitre Special Effects was set up as the original distributor for the North American market 20 years ago, before the company began operating directly as Le Maitre USA LLC in 2011.

UK - Green Hippo has announced that along with their ever developing range of products, the team behind it all is expanding even more with the addition of Zep Mouris and Vlad Voina, software developers, and product design intern Rhian Wellington.

Mouris, who started at Green Hippo as an intern has developed his programming skills whilst working towards finishing his degree and has been a great addition to the team from the get go.

Voina joins the team as a graduate from Goldsmiths University with a BSc in creative computing and he has shown great enthusiasm working at Green Hippo and in the industry

UK - Howard Smart has joined Turbosound as senior technical support specialist. Having started his pro audio career with Sussex-based Blue Box Company and worked with many of the UK's top production companies, Smart has a wealth of experience of both national and international concert touring spanning more than 20 years. Learning much of his audio engineering skills at the sharp end of the electronic dance music boom of the 90s, he quickly progressed to become a freelance engineer for Capital Sound, SSE, Entec, RG Jones and Audile.

India - TC Group has implemented a definitive plan for sustained growth in the Indian market with the opening of a new office in Noida, India, and a significant appointment to its technical sales team.

Binny Sharma has been appointed as the company's technical sales and support manager for India. Based at the new India office in Noida, Binny will be responsible for providing application and technical support to Tannoy, Lab.gruppen and Lake customers throughout the country.

Binny comes to TC Group with several years of experience in the pro audio industry, including six years in the field of AV systems integration. He has been part of the design and technical support departments in Bose and Bosch.

The Netherlands - Creative Technology has announced that Edwin de Haan has joined the project management team of Creative Technology working out of CT's Holland operation.

Effective 1 August 2013, de Haan brings with him a wealth of experience in managing large complex video productions on a national and international basis, having spent seven years in a similar position at XL Video in the Netherlands.

UK - Yamaha Commercial Audio (UK) has announced the appointment of Stephanie Halstead to the position of commercial audio sales and marketing support.

Previously working for Yamaha's Central Operations division, Halstead's new role includes daily contact with Commercial Audio dealers and customers, as well as logistics, stock management and providing backup to the Commercial Audio sales and technical support teams.

"My previous role involved being in contact with hundreds of Yamaha dealers, whereas in CA I will be working with a smaller network of customers on a more personal level," she says. UK - LSi Online has learned the sad news of the death of Derrick Saunders, for many years one of the best-known figures in the UK's professional lighting industry. Derrick passed away on Friday 16 August after a long illness. As sales and marketing director of Pulsar Light of Cambridge, Derrick was a familiar figure from 1970 through until his retirement from the company in 2000. Even in retirement, he remained actively involved with family business Adda Super Cases, alongside his wife Monica.

Derrick's funeral will be on 30 August at St. Andrews Church, Oakington, Cambridgeshire, CB24 3AN. All who knew Derrick are welcome to attend. The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers to be sent to St. Andrews Church fund.

UK - SGM UK has recruited experienced lighting professional, Matt Wiseman, as sales manager. He most recently spent two years in European sales at Rosco and prior to that served seven years at PRG where he was in charge of gobo sales for Vari-Lite - specialising in the film and TV sectors.

Wiseman said he was drawn to the new position by the pedigree of SGM CEO, Peter Johansen and SGM UK MD, Ian Kirby, and the partnership they have forged. "Ian was looking for someone to lead the sales operation, dealing with SGM customers face to face. SGM has made a huge impact in concert touring and I want to further develop this.

Langridge has worked in the display business since 1990, initially with a US-based company which manufactured LCD tablets for the presentation market, before moving into the AV business where he provided bespoke video solutions. UK - Patrick Woodroffe reports that Adam Bassett is joining him as his partner in a new entity, Woodroffe Bassett Design in a move that will bring together Adam Bassett Design and Patrick Woodroffe Lighting Design.

The two have worked together since 1999 when Adam joined Patrick at the Millennium Dome shows in Greenwich and since then they have collaborated together and worked independently on all sorts of lighting projects around the world.

Working with associates, Miriam Evans and Terry Cook, Woodroffe Bassett will continue to design, direct and produce lighting projects in all forms including music, theatre, special events and architecture.
