With 20 awards presented in total, by comedian Tom Stade, Dave Bellamy and Kim Gavin, artistic director of the Olympic and Paralympic closing ceremonies were the only individuals to receive awards on the night.
Bellamy was nominated for the award by Showforce's chairman Ian Spendlove who said, "I really wanted to formally acknowledge the hard work, commitment and high standards demonstrated by Dave throughout, what was undoubtedly, the busiest time in our 20 year history. Dave oversaw projects that included Olympic overlay, the opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympics and Paralympics, the Diamond Jubilee Concert and Sports Personality of the Year."
The judging panel for the awards included; Chris Salmon, event operations director at Goodwood; Clive Little, director of events and programming at the London Legacy Development Corporation; Colin Rodger, head of event management at DF Concerts; David Mayo, general manager at HPower; John Farquhar-Smith, owner of Flux Creative Consultancy; Mark Ward, managing director at Proper Productions and Tim Owen, commissioner: events, filming & contingency planning at Westminster City Council. The select group were looking for individuals who had gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Bellamy said, "There was a lot of very strong competition in the category especially with it being 2012 - I think that makes it extra special. It really was a team effort though, I'm extremely proud of what everyone at Showforce achieved over the last 12 months."
