USA - Philips Entertainment has chosen the University of Nevada Las Vegas as a partner in its Educational Outreach and Sponsorship Programme. As part of the sponsorship, Philips Entertainment has donated Philips Vari-Lite VL3015 Spot, VLX Wash and VL770 Spot luminaires, along with Showline SL NITRO 510 LED strobe luminaires and a Philips Strand Lighting NEO lighting control console to UNLV for use in its educational programs and theatrical productions.

"We've dealt with Philips Vari-Lite and Philips Strand Lighting several times in the past so when we were approached about the sponsorship program, we jumped at the opportunity to participate," said Brackley Frayer, chair and executive director of the UNLV Department of Theatre and the Nevada Conservatory Theatre. "This sponsorship truly means a lot to us, but it's not only about the gear, it's also about the support it will provide to our educational programs. We are very excited about new relationship we will have with Philips Entertainment which will be essential to the educational and professional growth of our theatre students."

"The Philips Entertainment sponsorship programme is a fantastic way for us to nurture the next generation of lighting designers and technicians," said Julie Smith, Philips Entertainment general manager of the Americas. "UNLV has a wonderful programme with a tremendous professional theatre company that challenges the student designers to reach new heights of creativity. Through this sponsorship, we are able to provide them with Philips Vari-Lite and Showline luminaires along with Philips Strand Lighting control that will allow them to both reach for and achieve everything they desire in their lighting designs."

The UNLV Department of Theatre in the College of Fine Arts offers a diversified curriculum, taught by experienced faculty that allows students to immerse themselves in all aspects of theatre, while taking advantage of the entertainment richness of Las Vegas. Whether it's in the classroom, on the stage, or behind the camera, the department of theatre fosters creative development and growth that prepares its students for the world's stage.

Frayer added, "At UNLV, we have the Nevada Conservatory of Theatre which is our professional theatre company that produces about seven or eight shows per year and our student designers will now have immediate access to the new gear. They have not had a lot of opportunities to work with LED moving lights and we can't wait to integrate this new technology into both our productions and our educational curriculum. Along with the new light board and the LED strobe fixtures, all of the lighting gear offered by Philips Entertainment as part of the sponsorship program will completely enhance our students' experience."
