After previous success at the DJ Awards with the CDJ-1000 series of CD decks, this year Pioneer's award covered a wider range of equipment. Pioneer was again honoured to receive the best Technology award, but this time for its overall contribution to DJ culture during the year. This year, Pioneer has further elevated the concept of the mix with a new high-end, professional series of digital DJ booth solutions, say the company. Recognized by the DJ Awards, these include the amazing DJM-1000 mixer and EFX-1000 effects unit, as well as the DVJ-X1 DVD/CD deck - developments that have expanded the creative opportunities available to artists while setting new standards for digital audio.
Pioneer's European marketing manger, Mark Grotefeld, who was in Ibiza to accept the award, reflected: "Considering Ibiza is a clubbing capital of the world and that Pioneer's latest DJ technology is installed in many major venues across the island, it's fantastic to have our dedication to dance music recognised with this award in such a location."
Depending on the category of the award, winners were decided by either an international public who voted online or by the DJ Awards committee. This year, Pioneer collected its Technology award alongside a host of industry luminaries. These included Erick Morillo for top International DJ, the Manumission team for best Ibiza Night, Mauro Picotto in the Techno category, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso for best Newcomers, and Steve Lawler for finest DJ in the Tech House/Progressive genre. Other industry awards such as the Outstanding Contribution and Outstanding Dedication awards went to Radio 1 and DJ Magazine respectively.
