UK - ETC is showing a number of new and updated products at PLASA 2011, including the newest control desk in the company's award winning Eos line: Gio.

Officially launching at PLASA, the ETC Gio is designed to fill the mid-range position in the Eos family, between Eos and Ion. It offers the power of full Eos functionality, but in a smaller footprint. Features include integrated, articulating multi-touch displays and helpful backlit keys. The look of the desk itself is elegantly polished and minimalist.

ETC controls product manager Anne Valentino says: "We first showed Gio to customers at our end user conference, Cue, in Wisconsin in July, and it had an extremely positive response. We'd had a lot of demand for a desk to fill the space between the full-size Eos and the highly compact Ion.

"We're revealing full details of the desk to visitors on the stand; we'll then be offering more details to our friends in the press in the week following PLASA. However, you can also find more details on our website, etcconnect.com."

Selador Desire

ETC is also showing for the first time at PLASA its new ultra bright, high colour, energy efficient Selador Desire D40, D40XT and D60 lines of LED luminaires, including the unique Studio for broadcast work. These fixtures are earning high praise for their ability to blend beautifully with conventional tungsten colour and light in today's greener hybrid lighting rigs.

Selador's x7 Color System adds four more colours to LEDs' traditional RGB mix, radically expanding the colour range and power. For more integrated communication with lighting consoles, RDM (Remote Device Management) protocol is available for patching, setting addresses and adjusting settings without having to climb up to the fixture itself. Stand alone operation is also included as standard, so Desire fixtures can be controlled from a push button panel on the back of each; and they can be networked together to create sequences and chases without the need for a lighting desk.

Selador LED shoot out and studio recreation

You can see a demonstration of Selador in an LED fixture shoot out on the STLD stand at PLASA 2011. Taking place twice a day, fixtures from a number of manufacturers are compared to traditional tungsten and HID lighting. In addition, there are case study seminars for visitors to learn from presentations on a variety of subjects, including a recreation of the Selador Classic LED-equipped ITV Daybreak studio.

ETC has created a website at www.layersoflight.com giving full details of each of the Desire fixtures, including examples and case studies.

Sensor3 with Thru~Power

High reliability dimming now combines with remote activated mechanical relay and Thru~Power bypass to create the foundation of a completely flexible power system design for your future, says ETC. Sensor3 dimmable Thru~Power modules allows free mixing of "Dim", "switch", or "manual bypass" on a circuit by circuit basis without replacing the hardware in your Sensor power system. ETC's Thru~Power bypass solution is the only product on the market to use Mechanical relays which completely eliminate the problematic effects of thyristor based switching (SCR and Triac) bypasses on moving lights and power supplies that are unable to be run on conventional dimmers. A local bypass override also latches the relay to completely bypass the control system to guarantee that the unsuspecting board operator does not dim your intelligent lighting source.

The company says: "Sensor3 with Thru~Power rises to new levels of performance with CEM3 Power Control. In addition to controlling dimmed, switched (relay), and constant bypass modes of Sensor3's Thru~Power circuits, this high performance processor is designed to reduce setup time, simplify system backups, and remove all barriers to networking your lighting system."
