UK - PLASA Show 2015 is just a few days away, but the organisers are working right up to the wire to bring in the best speakers for the PLASA Professional Development Programme. Four new sessions have just been announced, respectively addressing lighting, sound and video.

Emmy Award winning lighting designer Al Gurdon, of Incandescent Design, will discuss his design philosophy in State of the Art Today, Passé Tomorrow, covering what is lighting for, what should it do, why do we need it, as well as taking a look at whether your lighting is relevant and focused now, and if it will stand the test of time.

In Going Over To The Dark Side - From Lessons To Lighting, founder of DX7 Design Tom Sutherland will discuss how he dropped out of education to pursue a highly successful career in lighting, a decision taken neither lightly nor without opposition. This session sees Tom discussing his story and a little about how he works, offering both guidance and inspiration.

DX7 Design is a growing international business and Tom has designed the lighting for some of television's biggest shows, including the Brit Awards, X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. The three-times Knight of Illumination nominee hopes seminar attendees will follow their passion, love what they do and, like him, enjoy a career that doesn't feel like work!

This session will endeavour to bring attendees up to speed with the current spectrum situation and look at what some of the options might be for the future.

In a workshop titled Projection Mapping Workflow On 3D Objects, video professionals Shannon Harvey and Chris Simcock will take their audience through a demonstration of projection mapping and 3D content creation, from pre-visualisation to realisation, on a complex 3D projection surface using the d3 platform.

Shannon is founding director of Aspect Unlimited entertainment technology consultants and course leader for the Backstage Academy Visual Production degree (BA Hons), while Chris is founding director of video consulting company Sensel Studio and a certified d3 Trainer.
