UK - PLASA and L&SI magazine have joined forces with the technical team at The Centaur in Cheltenham to stage a three-day loudspeaker demonstration on Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th May. The event, which PLASA and L&SI plan to be the first of many such product-led industry gatherings, will allow visitors to hear and compare a range of the world's leading professional PA systems designed for shows and events with up to 5000 audience capacity.

Over the course of three days, 12 leading manufacturers will gather at the 4000-capacity multi-purpose venue to demo' their systems. The Participants will include DAS Audio, EAW, Funktion-One, JBL, K-Array, KV2 Audio, Martin Audio, Meyer Sound, RCF, Renkus-Heinz and Tannoy.

Audio consultant Steve Jones of SJA has designed the demo format in consultation with the manufacturers involved, and will be on hand to ensure an even playing field and to take measurements in the venue. The demos will form the basis of a Technical Focus feature which will appear in PLASA's industry-leading magazines Lighting&Sound International and Lighting&Sound America, this summer.

Audio professionals are being invited to come and look, listen and discuss their needs with the specialists, and to meet and mingle with their peers during the Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. PLASA is negotiating preferential deals with hotels in the area to help visitors to stay over, hear all nine system demos and get the maximum benefit from this excellent networking opportunity.

Lee Baldock, editor of L&SI and an organiser of the event, says: "What started as an idea for a Technical Focus article for L&SI has developed into something bigger, thanks to the generous support from The Centaur. We now have a rare opportunity for a demonstration of high-quality PA systems, in controlled surroundings, which will be as fair as we can possibly make it - something that will be of interest to many audio professionals. For the manufacturers it's a great opportunity to present their latest systems to potential new customers. On top of that, there's an important social aspect to a gathering like this, and we'll be making the most of that in the evenings."

Entry is free to all pre-registered PLASA Members and their employees and representatives, including students at PLASA Member educational establishments. Entry is also free to anyone who is invited by one of the participating manufacturers or their UK representatives.

For everyone else there is an entry fee of £25 (£15 for students), which will cover access to all three days of the event. Registration is open now at the website address below:
