Flip Sandell (HSE) asks: A shackle falls to the stage and hits a stagehand causing life threatening injuries: what happens now?
Flip Sandell currently works in the HSE's Entertainment and Leisure Sector and is responsible for their role in live music events, theatre, film, broadcasting and fairgrounds. Flip's session will explain what happens during the investigation - from when the investigator first arrives until the final closure of the file. He will be able to answer questions such as: what are the legal duties, where do they lie and what planning can you do to make sure the buck stops elsewhere?
This seminar provides an invaluable opportunity for all rigging practitioners to become fully informed and aware as to their professional roles and responsibilities in the industry.
The HSE session joins the busy programme of speakers and topics already confirmed, including:
• Ground Supported Structures led by Malcolm Richards
• Understanding dynamic loads and what really happens when the go button is pushed? presented by Nick Barnfield
• Performer flying, aerial performance and physical theatre rigging led by Robert Dean
Not forgetting the conference's keynote speaker this year, Roy Bickel, one of the original 'Disney Riggers' and an iconic figure from the global world of rigging.
Look out for details coming soon of the Riggers' Forum taking place on the afternoon of Sunday 9 September. This is an informal event that offers riggers unable to attend the main conference the opportunity to discuss issues and challenges in their working environment with experts in the industry.
