For the first time, the majority of seminars will be located upstairs on the exhibition floor in a purpose-built Seminar Theatre providing quick and easy access and ensuring that visitors are able to maximize their time at the show.
Sunday: The DJ/VJ Mix Workshop with Dr Charles Kriel: hot on the heels of his groundbreaking live DVJ telecast for Glastonbury 2004, Kriel explores the aesthetics, the technologies, the issues and the opportunities presented by the convergence of audio and video technologies as it finally reaches critical mass and is set to change clubland for ever.
Monday: The Creative Possibilities of Visual Media: This workshop will alleviate some of the confusion and misunderstanding surrounding these new technologies and examine their practical applications in today's productions. It will also discuss the legal implications of the new media revolution and how these can affect the user.
Hot Property - protecting your brand and products: This session will set out to define Intellectual Property and offer advice on securing your product against the threat of fraud from counterfeit and grey market trading. Areas such as copyright, patents, trademarks, trade secrets and the protection of products abroad will all be covered. Presented by Margaret Briffa and Nazneen Schmittzehe of IP specialist, Briffa.
An audience with James Woodhuysen: Want to know what the future holds? Come and grab a glass of wine and listen to Professor James Woodhuysen, the renowned lecturer and writer, who will be giving his views on future trends in design and technological innovation.
Tuesday: Design Considerations for Buildings used for Corporate or Entertainment Applications: Supported by RIBA, this session will enable those involved in the design process of buildings to have a better understanding of what is required of the venue by production companies. The A-Z of the Disability Discrimination Act will offer an overview of the DDA, providing practical advice on creating an effective strategy to meet the needs of disabled people and give a view of the latest good practice.
Wednesday: Risk and Reward - the benefits of being prepared is aimed at the directors and owners of businesses, individuals and freelancers who need to understand the ins and outs of risk assessment and where their responsibility lies in respect of Public & Employer's Liability insurance.
For all of the above sessions, visitors can pre-register in advance for £15.00 plus VAT before Friday 3 September (registration on the door is £20.00 plus VAT). There is also a Student ticket price of £10.00 plus VAT, with a valid NUS card.
