The exhibitor list has been rapidly growing with international brands spanning lighting, audio, AV, rigging and staging, and the programme is filling up fast with critical updates, exclusive panels and the latest projects.
In association with LSi, respected lighting designer Rob Halliday and entertainment architects Stufish will present Giudizio Universale - Michelangelo and the Secrets of the Sistine Chapel, revealing the technical secrets of this stunning €9m immersive stage show created by Marco Balich, now at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome. Having worked on the show, Rob Halliday will discuss the richly pigmented, high-contrast lighting design drew on the style, colour and mood of the iconic paintings.
Another seminar comes in the form of Creating the Tempest. It will see Sarah Ellis from the Royal Shakespeare Company discuss the highly innovative digital technologies used in their recent production which could change the face of theatre.
Holoplot are hosting a session exploring wave field synthesis for 3D sound applications and challenging acoustic environments. Attendees will learn about how this technology can go beyond theory to produce real products and scalable solutions that can cope with harsh acoustic environments.
Back by popular demand is a panel of festival veterans led by Philip Norfolk of Ambersphere. This seasoned crew of lighting designers and FOH engineers will lift the lid on the realities of an artist changeover during festival season and how unique and surprising challenges are overcome, often by the skin of their teeth.
ChamSys are on hand with practical training sessions, suitable for both beginners and more experienced users. Attendees will learn how to patch a show, create cues and FX, and much more using QuickQ and MagicQ consoles and software. Zero 88 will also run back-to-back introductory sessions aimed at familiarising attendees with the operation of FLX consoles. Audio professionals are catered for by multiple training sessions on Sennheiser’s Speechline Digital Wireless System.
The Fast Track Theatre is bursting with bite sized sessions where visitors can cut their business teeth and up their marketing game: brand advisor Shéa Bennett from Identity will reveal how to add magic to your next live event, Darryn de la Soul from Soulsound will show you how to set up a small business, Tony Lennon from BECTU will help with tax advice for freelancers, and John Schwab from Curtain Call will highlight the importance of networking.
In addition to a PLASA panel on mental health awareness, Scotty Stewart will present a personal view, sharing his story as a successful touring rigger who suffers from depression.
The internationally recognised PLASA Awards for Innovation will celebrate the most forward-thinking product designs on Monday, 17 September, with all entries available to view throughout the show at the Innovation Gallery.
