Under contract from the city administration they have created a dramatic and haunting lightscape, using PR Lighting LED fixtures, for the restored Victims of Fascism monument, located in the park at the Centre for Slavic Culture. This monument is one of the most important places to pay homage to the horrors of the Second World War in the region.
CORTMI turned to three of PR Lighting's new ARC LED 3216, using them with other narrowly focused white light illuminators. This fixture is a newly-automated and highly-flexible flexible 'double-headed' RGBWA fixture, containing 216 x 3W high quality LEDs, and inheriting its bright output from the PR-8802.
The three LED spotlights have been placed on specially installed masts around the monument, and illuminate the edifice laterally with red light - hitting the 12-faced granite piers and laurel wreath which symbolise the bloody years of war and grave victory. Meanwhile, white floodlighting provides further external and internal illumination from niche pylons, delineating the border design, while spotlights light up the night sky, recalling the rays of defensive anti-aircraft searchlights 70 years earlier.
According to CORTMI's marketing manager, Stanislav N. Serbin, the choice of LED lighting was made in recognition of the durability and economy of LED sources, since the monument is lit throughout the night.
In addition, the sound and lighting specialists have also supplied special Omnistronic GSG speakers in the inner recesses at the base of the pylons, through which songs of the war years are broadcast around the clock.
This installation was the result of the previous, highly successful project at another big War Monument in Donetsk - the Monument to the Liberators of Donbass in the Leninsky Komsomol Park.
