Having seen demonstrations of the ChromaPowerPix200 fixtures at the presentation days hosted by Pulsar at the Richard Martin Lighting facility, lighting director for Blue Peter, Lee Allen opted to use a number of the fixtures in their different configurations to suit his requirements for the music performance by The Saturdays during the show.
A total of eight fixtures were configured and supplied for the show by Richard Martin Lighting, lighting rental specialists who hold a substantial inventory of Pulsar ChromaRange LED fixtures.
Six of the ChromaPowerPix200 fixtures used as a large centre piece to the set were flown behind the band utilising the steel cable hanging arrangement that providing a quick rigging solution for the studio technicians. The addition of the white fascia panel and the diffusion domes gave the fixtures a clean look and an interesting background visual effect.
Two further fixtures were rigged on either side of the centre piece as stage blinders; these used the optional hanging yoke that is quickly and securely attached by camlock fasteners. These units were also fitted with 10 degree beam angle optics plates and with the white fascia panel removed the black body allowed the fixtures to disappear into the lighting grid.
Lee Allen commented, "With the very tight time schedule for the day, the ChromaPowerPix200 fixtures were very quick to rig and their fitted trailing cables made it very easy to connect the system together. The fixtures use the same control channel allocations as other ChromaRange fixtures so it was extremely quick to get them working on the desk as no new personality definitions were needed. With the diffusion domes fitted the centre piece offered strong bold colours and stunning visual effects whilst the blinder versions created a fantastically bright punchy beam through the haze."
