Spain - Located on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Las Franquesas del Vallès - a short distance from Barcelona - the shell of a standard factory unit has been converted, at great expense, into the new nightclub, Incognit. Owners Guillem Soler, Jordi Galcerán and Gerard Guerra have divided the spacious venue into two distinct rooms - one playing commercial hits, the other house music.

With over 12 years experience in the club market the owners realised the value of a good sound system - and they contacted Carles Xandri, from Xandri Brothers SL to help make the selection.

Xandri were already familiar with the attributes of QSC Audio, having been impressed by their performance in other venues in the Barcelona region. As a result 14 active HPR152i loudspeakers have been flown across the two rooms, underpinned by 12 floor-mounted HPR181i powered (single 18in) subwoofers. The HPR was purpose designed for high-level dance music with the sub adding low-frequency extension and power to the versatility of the biamped HPR152i.

But the key to this venue's success is the large amounts of built-in control flexibility, using proprietary QSC platforms, which enable the whole environment to be orchestrated from just six faders.

To accomplish this, Xandri has designed the system around a QSC DSP 322ua processor, with a custom GUI developed using QSCreator. This is accessed from within Venue Manager, QSC's system wide design software, which allows the creation of a simple, graphic user interface, which can be customized for full routing flexibility.

Controlled over an Ethernet network via the Venue Manager software, the DSP 322ua can store up to eight signal flow design configurations, with nearly unlimited snapshot parameter recall. And with all data stored in the device, memory files can be uploaded from the unit to multiple computers without complication.

In the case of Incognit, this means that the entire club can listen to the output from either DJ booth - where QSC HPR122i enclosures have been provided for reference monitoring - as well as operating their own individual systems.
